Sensory Compression Sheets

Sensory Compression Sheets

If you’ve been looking for a product that can help to assist in getting a good night’s sleep, then a sensory compression sheet may be what you are looking for.

Also known as a Snuggle Bed Sock, these sheets are manufactured in Australia and made from a breathable transparent lycra which feels soft and comfortable to touch. Using them is really easy as they simply slide over the mattress creating a tunnel like effect. They are open ended, so the user has free movement on both the top and bottom of the sheet. It creates a wonderful cocoon type feeling that helps to settle and support the individual.

The Snuggle Bed Sock is the perfect calming sensory tool to help aid individuals with autism and other sensory processing disorders by providing deep pressure input that helps to calm an over stimulated nervous system and prepare for a good night’s solid sleep.

It is important to note that a compression sensory sheet, such as a snuggle body sock, will provide a different sensation to the brain then a weighted blanket will as it is made primarily of lycra and will provide a type of resistance when you slide into it.

They are a great alternative or addition to weighted blankets as they don’t get hot and can be used on their own or with your normal bed doona.

This product is also particularly helpful for adults and children that may suffer from anxiety, sleep issues, behavioural issue, separation anxiety, as well as sensory processing disorder (SPD).

Sensory compression sheets are also simple to remove and easy to wash or travel with. Available in single, king single, double and queen bed sheet sizes in a range of attractive colours. Check out the range available at the Sensory Store, which is owned and operated by Nepean Area Disabilities Organisation (NADO), a registered NDIS provider. If you have a current Australian NDIS plan, payment options may be available via your NDIS funds.

*Please note – this item is not suitable for children under 3 years of age. Ensure the child or person can always lift sheet off themselves unassisted.
